Learning Inventory

WELCOME BACK!

The most interesting thing that I did over the holidays was playing pool and bowling with friends. We went to the new Toa Payoh Safra, where we spent the day playing games and having fun.
I have a younger brother and an older sister. My brother is two years younger whereas my sister is 5 years older and studying in Australia. I'm interested in literature and philosophy and psychology. My hobbies are playing brainteasers, mind games and word games like scrabble. I like playing games in general. I also absolutely love reading, although I prefer fiction as opposed to non-fiction.

My feelings towards Mathematics: I feel Math is really interesting and quite fun in the working things out sort of way. I enjoy Math. I like stuff like Math comprehension! I think I'm generally okay in Math and I'm not really sure about what my strengths and weaknesses are.

What did I like best about last year’s Maths class? My teacher was really vibrant in class and I liked how she taught a basic concept, then let us have some quiet time to work on the worksheets before going through them.

What I did not like about last year’s Maths class? There was usually alot of homework.

SELF-PORTRAIT : REFLECTIVE INVENTORY

1. What are some of the ways of learning Mathematics that work for you? Elaborate.
Self- study. Having some quiet time to think through it and digest it and work it out myself to let me fully understand the concepts.
Analysing error patterns and retrying. I see where I've gone wrong and refamiliarise myself with the concept, then attempt similar questions to make sure I'm clear about the concept.
Group discussions. They allow me to see different ways of looking at the question.

2. What are some of the ways of learning Mathematics that have not worked well work for you? Why?
I'm not too sure yet.

3. Describe how you have performed in Mathematics so far. Give possible reasons for this performance.
I'm generally happy with my performance of 4.0 for math. However, it wasn't a high 4.0 and I feel I can do better. I think its mostly due to carelessness because after inspecting my papers, I feel I knew how to do most of it. However, some are also because I didn't fully grasp the concept.

GETTING TO KNOW ME

1. The following are some attributes I felt are my personal strengths.
-Reflective
-I like to set targets
-I like to think and delve into things
-I'm optimistic

2. The following are some areas of improvement that I hope to work on.
-Time Management
-Neater in organising
- Being more proactive in my learning

3. To me, being successful in my performance in Math this year means being able to understand all the concepts fully and getting a higher grade for it.

4. If I have free time, I would spend it by reading, listening to music, sleeping, playing.
